Obituary for Ethna Ewert (Vrooman)

Ethna Ewert (Vrooman)
Margaret Ethna Ewert (née Vrooman) mother, grandmother, great grandmother, Lioness and lifelong artist passed peacefully after a brief stay at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Friday, March 28th, at 11:23 AM. She was an only child and must have begun her life as one of the most popular girls in school because her life was blessed from start to finish and at every stage with the most wonderful friends surrounding her. Her life was one of service and dedication to her family, her friends and her community. She served her community for years as a Brownie leader and commissioner; as badge commissioner for the local skating club; as a board member of the medical clinic and with her husband Ed “Doc” Ewert as dedicated members of the Lions club. She was a consummate hostess. Her home was open to all. Her greatest gifts to her children and their children and their children’s children were her presence, her caring and her love of creativity. She decorated homes with her murals, dance halls with her art, Santa Claus parade floats and her children for Halloween with equal ease. She was truly a woman of remarkable talents! Wife of Edwin whom she survived by 7 years; beloved mother of Leslie, Charles and his wife Kathy, Andrea Mckay and her husband Harry, and Maggie; loving grandmother of Robyn Vickers and her husband Earl, Jennyn, Cameron and his wife Lizzie, Andrew; great grandmother to Krystyn, Ben, Abbey, Patrick and Sean. To all these and so many more she will be remembered always as their very own Nana. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lung Association or World Vision.
